Stress is the common thread that each human being experiences. Stress can be linked to unstable relationships with your job, partner, kids, finances, or just with chronic negative self-talk and self-doubt. While stress is connected to the development of diseases such as diabetes, cardiac disease, and some cancers, it within itself is actually not a disease. According to the World Health Organization, stress is defined as merely the verbal, behavioural, spiritual, or physical reaction a person has when presented with pressures or demands that do not align with their personal knowledge and abilities, which challenge their ability to cope. As a result, the body experiences neurobiological changes that increase cortisol, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration, while affecting sleeping, eating, and mood patterns. Again, despite the unparalleled affect stress has on the body, it is not a disease.

However, there are several things that you can do while socially distancing that can offer both connection and fulfillment.
