Telemedicine emerged as a pivotal solution during this crisis, offering patients greater access to specialists, improving outcomes, and reducing hospital visits. Its adoption surged dramatically, with a 38-fold increase in telehealth applications' use compared to pre-pandemic levels. The article discusses the different categories of telemedicine software, including store-and-forward, remote monitoring, and real-time interactive services. Lockdowns and prolonged isolation have led to mental health issues, exacerbated by excessive screen time and reduced physical activity. However, various digital health tools, including apps like Calm and Headspace and telemedicine services, are providing valuable support. The challenge lies in striking a balance between improving access to mental health resources and reducing excessive screen time while creating engaging and evidence-based digital health solutions that educate and incentivize users effectively. This era is witnessing exciting innovations in digital health, offering promising solutions for mental well-being.
As the boundaries between work and home blur in the era of telework, the impact on mental health has become a growing concern. The article discusses the challenges of remote work, such as juggling household responsibilities while getting ready for the workday, and highlights the importance of establishing a work routine to maintain mental well-being.
