Hi, I’m Abrar, founder of Dorsal.fyi. We’ve been working in stealth for just over a year, and we’re finally ready to share what we’ve been building.

Last week, the House passed a $1 trillion cut to Medicaid. Rural hospitals—many still underwater post-COVID—are about to face an existential crisis. ~25% of folks nationwide are enrolled on Medicaid, and for certain communities the rate can be over 66% of their patient base. The math doesn’t pencil out anymore.

My dad is a bootstrapped founder. My mom is a medical assistant. I grew up splitting the difference—learning how systems scale from one parent, and what it means to truly serve from the other. This foundation led me through eight years in healthcare AI, from building EHR systems for dialysis centers in Bangladesh to working on the generative AI team at Epic, where I watched technology that could heal being used to obscure and extract.

Lazy phone agents that try to flip consumers on an individual basis will never change the incentive structures inherent to the problem. We’re building infrastructure that cuts across the administrative fat and puts patients first.

Here’s the reality: only 0.5% of Americans appeal their medical bills. But when they do, they win 70–80% of the time. That’s tens of billions left unclaimed every year by patients and providers who simply don’t have the tools nor the time to fight back.
