During the COVID-19 pandemic, smartphone usage has increased, leading to physical ailments like 'texting neck' and 'thumb tendonitis,' caused by prolonged phone use and overuse respectively. These issues can cause chronic pain, stress injuries, incorrect posture, and other health problems. Simple measures like avoiding overuse, maintaining good posture, and regular exercises can help manage these conditions. New smartphone features like 'one-handed keyboard' or stylus use can reduce strain. In severe cases, professional medical advice should be sought. TheraNow's COO, Dr. Ashok Gupta, underscores the importance of balancing smartphone usage with health considerations.
Honeybee Health, an online pharmacy, is transforming the way prescription medications are obtained by eliminating middlemen and bypassing insurance, making it a viable solution to issues with traditional chain pharmacies. Despite the majority of prescriptions in the US being for generic drugs, high markups often render them unaffordable. Honeybee Health addresses these cost and accessibility issues by offering an online platform that makes prescription drug purchase more affordable and convenient. Co-founded by Dr. Jessica Nouhavandi and Peter Wang, this customer-first pharmacy, named among Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies and Fortune’s Best Places to Work in Health Care & Biopharma, serves 44 states and territories. Offering over 6,000 different prescription medications, Honeybee ensures seamless order and delivery, resulting in customers saving up to 80% of the typical cost at chain pharmacies.
Mymee is a remote, digital care program focused on helping individuals with autoimmune diseases or long-term COVID-19 effects regain their health. After CEO Mette Dyhrberg overcame her own struggles with autoimmune diseases, she developed Mymee to offer a personalized approach to health management, as no universal solution exists for such diverse health conditions. Mymee uses personalized data analytics and one-on-one health coaching to help clients identify triggers and patterns in their health. The program offers a customized mobile app combined with virtual coaching, enabling individuals to track symptoms, diet, and lifestyle data. Mymee health coaches guide clients in interpreting their data to devise strategies for preventing triggers and reducing symptoms. In response to the pandemic, Mymee has also developed a self-care program for individuals suffering from long-term COVID-19 symptoms.
