Hello there, Digital Health enthusiasts! 🙌
Welcome back to another insightful edition! In this edition, discover how Timm became the hottest AI library with record-breaking growth 🚀, explore Foxo’s revolutionary approach to patient-provider communication 📱, celebrate CytoNest's USDA-backed breakthrough for sustainable meat production 🍖, and don't miss Dominican University's critical discussion on technology's transformative role in public health 🏥🌐.
🚀📚 Biggest Trend in Machine Learning Highlighted by One Set of Libraries 🤖✨
PyTorch Image Models (Timm), an open-source computer vision library developed by Ross Wightman, has rapidly emerged as the leading computer vision library, surpassing 160 million downloads in February 2025—a 199% increase since December 2024, and more than double the downloads of its closest competitors. Its remarkable growth is driven by its vendor-neutral approach, frequent updates, and efficient inference performance, reflecting a broader shift towards community-driven open-source tools in machine learning.
Transforming the Patient Experience: Foxo Launches Unified Clinical Communications with Built-in Patient Chat
Foxo, an Australian-based provider of secure clinical communication and collaboration tools, has launched a patient-facing module called Patient Chat that aims to revolutionize patient-provider communication. The platform facilitates secure, efficient interactions between patients and healthcare providers, allowing patients to request information, schedule or modify appointments, and access clinical information without the need for traditional communication methods like phone calls or emails. Integrated with Microsoft Teams, it allows seamless communication without requiring a Microsoft account from the patient. The introduction of this technology at Medscan, a Sydney-based medical imaging and radiology service provider, has demonstrated immediate benefits including reduced call waiting times and improved service delivery. Foxo's CEO, Luke Fletcher, emphasizes the importance of such innovation in enhancing patient engagement and optimizing operational processes.
CytoNest Secures USDA Grant to Pave the Way for Revolutionary Sustainable Meat Growth Scaffold Research
CytoNest, a biotechnology company specializing in edible scaffolding for cell-based meat and seafood cultures, has secured a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to develop an innovative nanofiber-based, edible 3D scaffold platform for the large-scale production of cell-cultured meat products. The company aims to use the grant to create single filament polymeric nanofibers with precise alignment and built-in vasculature in 3D scaffolds, which would provide an ideal environment for cellular and tissue growth, overcoming challenges that have limited the commercial viability of cell-cultured meat. The scaffold will allow the production of meat-specific product lines that closely mimic the tissue structure and texture of various meat products.
Dominican University New York To Host Panel Discussion on the Role of Information Technology in Public Health
Dominican University New York, in partnership with the Palisades Institute, is hosting a panel discussion to explore the impact of information technology on public health issues and emergency response, particularly in the post-COVID landscape. The panel, featuring experts like Lisa Lewis from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), will delve into the developments in public health informatics and their role in shaping emergency response to public health concerns. This comes in the wake of the university's launch of a new Public Health Informatics and Technology (PHIT) undergraduate and post-baccalaureate certificate program, funded by a Workforce Development grant from the ONC. The event aims to provide insights into how IT can help tackle complex healthcare and emergency response issues.
